Catalyst Writers Group
Collaboration, Accountability, and Expert Feedback
This page is an archive of the previous Catalyst Writer’s Group Page (version 1.0).
The updated Catalyst program (version 2.0) can be found here:
This exclusive program is comprised of writers who are dedicated to helping each other grow creatively and take their skills and projects to the next level.
Sheryl Anderson, the showrunner of Sweet Magnolias (Netflix), is leading the Catalyst Writers Group for The Greenhouse, along with writer/producer Anthony Epling (Sweet Magnolias, Suits, Beauty & the Beast). Catalyst Writers Group was created with the goal of forming peer-led groups in which writers give and receive high-quality feedback, recommendations, and input from one another for their creative work.
Each participant will be part of a genre group – sitcoms, feature films, novels, poetry, or whatever you’re writing – so you know you’re working with other writers who are focused on your specific genre.
Get Valuable Feedback
You’ll be working on just one of your own projects during this session. Submit your pages to your group each month, let everyone know what kind of feedback you need, and get the entire group’s input and recommendations. Through Catalyst, you stay accountable in your writing and get valuable feedback on your work. And you learn the best way to give, receive, and implement notes – an invaluable skill in film and television.
And all the Catalyst participants will have access to a professional writer and/or showrunner from the entertainment industry who will make themselves available as a resource if there are questions or issues within the individual groups.
Get Involved
Taking part in the Catalyst Writers Group is free of charge for Greenhouse members, although there are a few requirements that can be taken care of with just few easy clicks (see below).
Please note: All interested writers should submit a fresh application for each new session so we know if you want to switch to a different genre or if there are any other changes to be made.
Table reads: Also, we are getting back to actor table reads of some of the best works from Catalyst writers. To be considered, please submit your work along with your new application (even if you have submitted your work before.)

The Greenhouse has been operating the Catalyst Writers Group for the past 2 years. After much analysis and discussion, plus feedback from our participants, we decided it was time to take Catalyst to the next level. So, with that in mind, we’re taking a temporary pause on the program to get things set up.
Please be assured that Catalyst will be back soon with details about our new approach, associated workshops, services, and even better opportunities for all writers.
If you’re interested in receiving an alert when the new application window opens, let us know at [email protected]. We’ll send you a notice as soon as the process starts!
